The Resilient Spirit from Foster Care to Family: Foster Care Guest Panel In Honor of Foster Care Awareness Month Host: Jeanette Yoffe, M.A., MFT Children who have been through the foster care system have suffered a profound heartbreak and loss: the loss of their birth family, the loss of their foster families, the loss of their identity and the loss of their history. In this event, participants will hear their stories inside and out. Guests include current and former foster children, foster-parents and foster-adopt parents. Participants will be able to ask questions and meet guests. Workshop is recommended for parents of foster and/or adopted children ages 0-17. Workshops for Therapists GROUNDBREAKING INTERVENTIONS: Speaker: Jeanette Yoffe, M.A., MFT This interactive workshop is designed to familiarize participants with new and imaginative ways for working with traumatized children in foster care and adoption and their families. Participants will be provided with a wide variety of play-based methodologies and interventions that have proven successful in working with children over the age of five in foster care and adoption. Participants will learn structured treatment activities, view examples, and receive a detailed handout explaining the goals of treatment, materials needed, and the "how to" approach for each methodology. Through this experiential workshop, participants will be provided with a wide variety of play-based methodologies and interventions that have proven successful in working with children over the age of five.
